In School Dance Residency
Young Dancers in Repertory’s Learning Through Dance program provides arts-in-education dance residencies for New York City public school children.
Research increasingly shows the link between in-school arts programming and academic achievement.
Young Dancers in Repertory works with students in grades K-12 in NYC Public Schools, providing dance residencies that help classroom teachers’ standards for learning in the arts.
Through our integrated dance and academic activities, we focus on three components:
- Dance Participation: Learning dance through exercises and combinations.
- Dance Making Process: Engaging the creative process to build a dance.
- Academics through Dance: Creating connections to literacy, social studies, math and science which improve each student’s focus and academic achievement.
