The Center for Dance Studies is located at 5602 Fifth Avenue in the heart of Sunset Park!

Directions: Take the N or R train to 59th Street, walk along 4th Avenue to 56th Street, and make a right on 56th. The studio is near Fifth Avenue, use the second floor entrance on 56th Street.

3rd child discount- 25% off your 3rd child's tuition (must be sibling of child 1 & 2).

MODERN DANCE, ages 7 & up
“Beginning"   $220/ term   “A” level   $220/ term   “B” level $270/term
An American contemporary form of dance, Modern Dance develops a full range of body movement and freedom of expression. Classes are based upon the principles of movement first explored by American modern dance pioneers, Doris Humphrey and Charles Weidman. Additional classes in Horton and/or Graham technique may be taught to expand the knowledge and dance experiences.
Beginning Ballet
($220 per term), ages 4 to 6, Wednesday, 3:30-4:30 and 5:00-6:00, or Thursday, 3:30-4:30 or Saturday, 9:00-10:00 and 10:45-11:45
Ballet A, ages 7 and up, Monday, 4:30-5:30 or Wednesday, 4:30-5:30 and 5:30-6:30 or Thursday, 4:30-5:30, or Saturday,9:45-10:45 and 11:45-12:45
Ballet B, ages 9 and up, Monday 5:30-6:45 or Wednesday 6:00-7:15 or Thursday, 5:30-6:45 or Saturday, 10:45-12:00 and 1:00-2:15
Ballet C, by placement only, ages 12 and up, Wednesday, 6:30-8:00 or Saturday, 12:00-1:30

BALLET, ages 7 & up

Ballet, a classical form of dance, develops strength, fluidity of movement, and flexibility. Classes are structured to incorporate work done at the barre, centre floor, and traveling sequences. 
Beginning Modern Dance, ages 7 - 9, Fridays 4:00-5:00
Modern Dance A
, ages 7 and up, Monday 4:30-5:30
Modern Dance B, 10 & up, Monday 5:30-6:45 or Friday, 5:00-6:15

The class creatively explores movement, develops coordination & rhythm skills necessary for progressive dance growth.

POINTE, girls by placement only 
$220 per term
An extension of ballet training, Pointe work is only offered for the serious female student who is taking a minimum of two technique classes per week and has already developed a strong ballet technique. 

TAP, ages 7 and up
$220 per term
In the Tap Dance classes students explore basic footwork, traditional steps, vocabulary, rhythmic patterns, syncopation, & tap history. In advanced classes, additional emphasis is placed upon movement style and creative combinations of sequences.
Tap 1, ages 4-6, Tuesday, 3:30-4:30
Tap II, ages 7 and up, Tuesday, 4:30-5:30
Theater Tap and Dance, ages 7 and up, 5:30-6:30

HIP HOP, ages 7 and up
$220 per term
Broadway and contemporary dance styles are explored in this high-energy class. Jazz dance combinations and movement phrases are taught to build strength, fluidity of movement, musicality and dynamic phrasing.
Hip Hop I, ages 7 and up, Friday 4:00-5:00 or Saturday, 2:45-3:45

Auditions held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 3:00PM
Fridays, 6:00 - 7:30PM for all Ensemble members
Additional rehearsals may be scheduled prior to major performances. YDR’s Touring Ensemble presents an average of 20 annual performances throughout New York City.  Ensemble members are selected via annual open auditions.

For Touring Ensemble members registered in classes at the Center for Dance Studies, tuition is waived – no fee.

Teenage Touring Ensemble members and apprentices are required to take three (3) technique classes per week to remain in good standing.
